Childhood Memories - CourtsWrites
Photography
A journey into childhood memories, CourtsWrites returns to the streets where he grew up in London. The spaces that shaped who he is. Places that continue to hold personal significance. Shot on 35mm HP5 400 film, this series captures the textures, light, and atmosphere of places that were once playgrounds, meeting points, and territories of discovery.
These images are less about documentation and more about emotional archaeology, revisiting locations through the lens of adulthood while honouring the child's perspective that first experienced them. The high contrast black and white aesthetic echoes the clarity with which certain memories persist, while the grain carries the weight of time passed.
CourtsWrites is an act of reclamation and recognition, acknowledging that the places we come from never truly leave us. They're written into our bodies, our instincts, our sense of belonging.
This project asks:
What do we find when we return?
And what parts of ourselves are still waiting there?
